Joint Distribution Committee - When the Soviet Union sent troops into Czechoslovakia last year, some 4,500 Jews fled, says Mrs. David Eskenazi of Athens, Greece, public relations officer for the Joint Distribution Committee in Athens, also known as the Jewish Red Cross. Of these Czech refugees, 2,500 were helped by JDC, she said. Mrs. Eskenazi was in New Orleans to speak this morning to 180 volunteers of volunteers of the women's division of the Jewish Welfare Fund at the Jewish Community Center.
