1969 Press Photo Parliament chairman Alexander Dubcek outside Prague castle

Alexander Dubcek, ousted as Czech Communist party leader 11 days ago, is greeted by people outside Prague castle today after he was elected chairman of the new federal parliament. The outcome of the vote was never in question, as the party had already named Dubcek for the largely ceremonial government job at the same time it picked Gustav Husak for party chief.
