Once the land housed a dingy warehouse and a railroad track. Now the "spinoff" from Rencen is a new excitement for downtown. There are new commercial activities and best of all there people in the streets, natives and tourists, on week nights. They go to old and new night spots and fill the sidewalks that were once abandoned. Police inspector Ron Shiner who heads a downtown patrol unit, said he hasn't seen so many people walking downtown at night since the '50s.
