1950 Press Photo Mrs. Walter Falgout turns Spigot on Dry Cistern in Louisiana

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The Mississippi River is practically in their front yards but for all the good it is doing them, 2500 Jefferson Parish residents might just as well be living in the Sahara Desert. A drought during September and October has dried up cisterns and wells in most of the outlying sections of Westwego, Gretna, Marrero, Bridge City and Waggaman. Mrs. Walter Falgout

Photo is dated 1950.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
