1963 Press Photo Crew starts drilling to rescue trapped miners near Hazleton

While workmen in foreground put canvas rain cover over well-shaft that leads to coal miners entombed near Hazleton, Pa., a drilling crew in background at right begins driving second shaft toward injured miner believed trapped in slope about 25-feet from first two miners with whom contact was made last night. Officials hope to use second shaft to lower food and water to injured Louis Bova.
