Sir Winston Churchill, who becomes the first honorary citizen of the United States in a White House ceremony today, wore his zippered air raid suit when he walked on White House grounds in 1942 while he was British prime minister. Churchill dubbed the outfit his "siren suit." Behind him walked Harry Hopkins, then lend-lease administrator.
