1973 Press Photo Knocked over fire hydrant across Chef Menteur Highway

Spraying water all the way across Chef Menteur Highway at Industrial Parkway Wednesday is a fire hydrant that "blew its top." A Seventh District police spokesman said the hydrant had been knocked over sometime after 4 p.m. but could not explain the circumstances. Aside from stopping traffic for 30 minutes the broken hydrant reportedly did no damage.
