1963 Press Photo Ghanaian students protest death of student Asare Addo in Moscow

Ghanaian students carry wreath surround a picture of a dead Ghanaian student, Asare Addo, 29, as they and other African students stage a protest demonstration in Moscow's Red Square today. Banner in background reads: "Friends today, Devils tomorrow." The students told the Soviet minister of education that Addo was stabbed to death by a Russian last Friday. A delegation of students was told by Soviet authorities that Addo froze to death but they didn't believe this.
