Bayou Barataria - Mrs. Augusta Meyers, left, defending woman's world champion pirogue racer, practices with her daughter, Zella Mae, who will race against her. The slim pirogues like graceful ballerinas skimmed Big Bayou Barataria at Lafitte. The rougher yet swift Lafitte skiffs swung out to rake the waters for shrimp. A double excitement gripped Lafitte and all the surrounding territory.
