1961 Press Photo Artist Drawing of Proposed Nashville Avenue Wharf Extension

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Here's an artist conception of the Dock Board's proposed upstream extension for the Nashville Avenue wharf as the contemplated six-berth facility would appear in relation to the levee, the present rail tracks, and access roads. Preliminary Dock Board plans call for a complete separation of the wharf area from the park area by a chain link fence along it. Trees would be heavily planted. Access from the park to the wharf or vice versa would be impossible under this plan and truck traffic would be allowed to enter the wharf area only via the underpass at Arabella Street (Nashville Avenue Underpass).

Photo is dated 1961.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
