1975 Press Photo Cranes lighten a barge carrying modules for oil development

Cranes lighten a huge barge carrying modules for oil development on Alaska's North Slope at Prudhoe Bay. This barge was one of ten that slipped around Pt. Barrow despite stubborn polar ice which has not moved off the Arctic Coast, as it has in previous years. The barge fleet has been en route to Prudhoe Bay for nearly two months carrying supplies necessary for the oil field which will feed the trans-Alaska pipeline.
