1975 Press Photo Draining wetlands, causes repair problems for home owners

The air space under this utility slab has provided a comfortable home for Patti, the rabbit. Usually, however, the sinking of drained wetlands causes nothing but problems for the homeowner. As the land sinks, water mains and sewerage lines become stressed and cracked and repairs can run into the thousands of dollars.
