Mrs. Vijaya Pandit, India's Ambassador to the U.S. asserted at ther first press conference that her country will maintain an independent foreign policy outside any power blog of either the East or West. The new Ambassador is sister of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, and is the first full-Fledged woman Ambassador to serve in the U.S.
