Barrage balloons have proved their value not only in cities, but also in protecting warships in berth in the Baltic, the black sea and in other waterways. The great gasbags are a familiar sight to Russians and annoying sights to the pilots of dive bombers. This is a scene from the march of time's "One Day of War," filmed on the various Russian fronts by Red Army Soldier-Cameraman, 30 of whom died while making the film record of One Day of War.

Photo is dated 1943.

Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75 inches.
