1939 Press Photo Ruth Treblow Sends Dollar to King George of England - ney30006

Ruth Treblow, 12 year old Philadelphia school girl, above, who recently broke open her bank, took out a dollar and sent it to King George of England for use in aiding the children evacuated from London at the outset of war. Ruth received a reply from her letter from the Right Honorable Walter Ellior, Privy Councillor and Minister of Health in which she was told that her dollar had been used to buy clothing for a little girl whose mother had recently died and whose father was jobless.
