1940 Press Photo Betty Gray A Marshall H Getchell Perch Fishing Thunder River

In Alpena, Michigan, it was a field day for students at Alpena's High School when it burned down simultaneously with the start of the annual spring run of perch up Thunder River. The fish, some of them running up to two pounds, proved to be a welcome relief from trigonometry, ancient history, and biology as Betty Gray, Ann Marshall, Hilda Getchell, left to right, will attest.
