1938 Press Photo Jenny Kammersgaard Swims Across Baltic Sea from Denmark

Kammersgaard, 17, Danish girl, has swum from Gedser, the most southerly point in Denmark, to Warnemunde, in Germany, across the Baltic Sea. The distance between the two points is 27 miles and Jenny covered it in 50 hours 59 minutes. At times during her attempt she had been carried far off her course by currents. Shown is the crowd greeting Jenny at Warnemunde.
