1937 Press Photo shipwreck survivor Matthew Kkaris, on CGC "Mendota" - neo00191

The Mendota had just taken part in a massive search and rescue effort by the Navy and the Coast Guard to locate the shipwreck of the Greek freighter, Tzenny Chandris, off the coast of North Carolina, and rescue the surviving crew. The crew of the Mendota succeeded in rescuing 15 survivors of the Greek Freighter, Tzenny Chandris.
