1951 Press Photo New York Frank Stefter,paroled in custody of Salvation Army NYC

Frank Stefter wanted in Illinois for a parole violation, received the best wished of Magistrate Charles Solomon (right) in Brooklyn Felony Court Dec 7. Stefter who now works at the Salvation Army Memorial Hotel in the Bowery stands to serve 22 years in jail shoul he be returned to Illinois. Magistrate Solomon said the 18 years Stefter has already served were enough and recommended that Salvation Army Officials intercede in his behalf with the Governor of Illinois. Stefter was paroled in the custody of the Salvation Army and the Legal Aid Society pending another hearing Dec 13. At left is Envoy S. Erstein Manager of the Hotel where Stefter works.
