Description

THERE IS A GREAT SIMILARITY IN THE CASES OF ETHEL FULLER, 9 (LEFT) AND GLORIA VANDERBILT, 10. ETHEL IS A BRIGHT FRAIL CHILD RAISED IN THE PROLETARIAN BRONX BY A FOSTER PARENT MRS FREDERICK CORDES WHO DISPUTED THE CUSTODY CLAIM OF THE CHILD'S MOTHER MRS CRRIE MEYLAN. IN THIS CASE SUPREME COURT JUSTICE E.L. HAMMER OVERHAULED THE CHILD'S PREFERENCE AND THE MORAL CHARGES AND PRONOUNCED THAT "A MOTHER'S RIGHT TO HER CHILD IS PARAMOUNT." MRS MEYLAN WON THE CUSTODY FIGHT. MEANWHILE JUDGE CAREW WAS WEIGHING THE MARITS OF THE BLUEBLOODED CAUSE CELEBRE BETWEEN GLORIA'S MOTHER AND THE GIRL'S AUNT, MRS HARRY PAYNE WHITNEY. HE RULED "THE CHILD MUST LEAD A DIFFERENT LIFE" TEMPORARILY MRS VANDERBILT MAY SEE HER DAUGHTER TWICE A WEEK UNTIL A FINAL DISPOSAL OF THE CASE IS EFFECTED. GLORIA IS ALSO A BRIGHT FRAIL CHILD. THERE IS ONE GREAT DIFFERENCE IN THE PLIGHTS OF ETHEL AND GLORIA. THE LATTER WILL INHERIT A FORTUNE OF $4,000,000. Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75 inches. Photo is dated 11-21-NONE.
