New York City greeted Gen. Douglas MacArthur with open arms April 20 with some 7,500,00 persons helping to roll out a gigantic welcome carpet of confetti and cheers for the great military leader. This is how Gotham looked to the General as he rolled in his lengthy motorcade along lower Broadway through a paper blizzard. Hanging form the windows of the massive Singer Building are some of New York Millions cheering themselves Hoarse. In the background is the famed Woolworth Building.
