Longshoremen vote in curtained booths in the special government sponsored election to determine the bargaining agent for dock workers in Port of NY Some 22,000 of them cast votes in two day election to settle the dispute between the new AFL pier union and the independent ILA which was ousted from the AFL as gangster ridden The National Labor Relations Board ordered the election in effort to aviod a strike on the waterfront threatened for Christamas Eve
