Richard Fairey son of Sir Richard Fairey Head of the British Air Commission in the United States arrived in New York via American Export Flying Ace. the former young Ferry Pilot for the British was en route to the U.S and his ship was torpedoed causing him to spend six and half days in a life boat. Picked up by a British warship, he was returned to England where frostbite made it necessary to amputate both his legs. Fairey will spend a few weeks vacation with his father Photo measures 6.25 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 10-16-1942.
