Alfred A McCarthy 49 who fought as a Marine Sergeant in seven major battles of the First World War including Belleau Wood Soissone and St Mihiel was the first ex-Marine to apply at New York headquarters to reenlist under a new ruling. A former policeman he is now a Thornwood NY coin dealer. Two sons are in the Marine Corps. Photo measures 6 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 02-03-1942.
