John L Lewis looks at his watch as he tells members of the press he had waited over twenty minutes for the operators to show up at the Appalachian Joint Wage Conference scheduled at the Hotel Biltmore today. As he left the hotel he declared that the operators failure to appear was considered by miners to be a violation pf the 30 day extension under which the current wage hours discussions are being conducted. He also called attention to his statement yesterday that the miners would not work if the temoprary wage agreement was violated. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 04-23-1943.
