1945 Press Photo New York Horse Trainer Tom Smith Appeals for Remission NYC

Smith, trainer of the nation's most successful 1945 racing stable, is seen as he appeared in the trial room of the State Racing Commission, where he went before a joint session of commission members and jockey club men to appeal for remission of his one-year suspension. The charge was that one of his animals, Magnific Duel, of the Main Chance Farm, received ephedrine before a race at Jamaica on Nov. 1. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 12-14-1945.
