Dr John Battenfield, 33, of Norman, Oklahoma,, a former medical officer, and his wife, Jeannine, whom he wed in France, are on their way to New York hospital to see their daughter, Miriam, 6 month old, one of the babies aboard the brideship Zebulon Vance who were stricken by a mysterious malady while enroute to the U.S. Three infants are dead and 16 passengers reported seriously ill. Dr Battenfield blamed poor sanitary conditions aboard the transport for the epidemic. Photo measures 6 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 05-22-1946.
