Air Chief Reports on Korean Air War Washington, D.C......General Hoyt S. Vandenberg, Air Force Chief of Staff is shown at a Korean map and chart of the Air Force's accomplishment in the Korean Air War during recent months. In a Pentagon news conference this week, General Vandenberg warned that "an extremely serious and critical situation" is at hand in the Korean Air War and indicated use of the atomic bomb is under consideration. But the Air Chief who returned last week from a tour of the Korean front said the A-weapon will be withheld as long as the Communists can be kept from using North Korean Air Fields with conventional bombs.
