Ploughing through the Heaving Pacific, a US Destroyer, gun crews on a 24 hour alert, carries on the Perpetual search for enemy forces . This ship is one of a detachment including larger ships and planes on patrol duty. Note that guns both fore and aft are pointed skyward to defend against aircraft. Another destroyer is faintly visible at left.
