1945 Press Photo President James Polk''s portrait presented to the Naval Academy

During ceremonies commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Naval Academy (October 10, 1845) a portrait of President James K. Polk (1845-1849) was presented to the Naval Academy. Left to right during the presentation: Senator Millard Tydings (Dem. MD.); Vice Admiral Aubrey Fitch, Superintendent of the Naval Academy; James McCord, Governor of Tennessee and Mrs. Bruce Douglas, president of Polk Memorial Association.
