Philadelphia- Former Marine Sgt. Al Schmid the Blind Marine Hero whose Guadalcanal Deeds were dramatized into a movie launched his political Career when he became a surprise candidate for State Secretary of Internal Affairs on the Democrat Ticket in the Primary Elections. Schmid a winner of the Navy Cross for killing 200 Japanese will run on the same ticket with U.S. Senator Joseph F. Guffey. The Movie based on the Hero's life story was titled Pride of the Marines and was shown in Theaters throughout the Nation. Al is shown with his wife Ruth and their Son Albert Jr.
