1920 Press Photo Josephus Daniels and Admiral Wilson of the Atlantic Fleet

Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels on board the flagship of the Atlantic Fleet, the Pennsylvania, addresses a crowd in Times Square, New York while the vessel was miles out at sea with a radio telephone. Admiral Wilson, commander on the Atlantic Fleet, is with him. The secretary's voice, transmitted by wireless was heard at Times Square through a loud speaking telephone.
