Though Otavalo is figuratively a stone's throw from the Equator, Indians wear wool blankets and outlanders keep their coats on in the cool, high Rarified Air. Here American Travel author temple fielding dickers with natives for some hand woven reed mats. The large deluxe size sells for about twenty cents.
