Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Under the recent amendment to neutrality legislation, these American pilots are flying a group of 27 Stimson Light monoplanes from the I+United States to Halifax, NS for speedy dispatch to the allies. Some of the pilots formerly owned the ships they flew but sold them back to the Stimson Corporation to facilitate filling of an order of 600 of them. The pilots are shown at Providence R.I., airport, en route to Halifax. The planes will be used in France to help direct artillery fire and also to carry dispatches.

Photo is dated 1940.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
