1942 Press Photo Aircraft Spotter Clad in "Sou'Wester" Scans Skies for Planes

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
It takes more than one person to warn our military forces that enemy raiders are near, and so San Francisco has organized a volunteer ground observation corps which is constantly on the lookout for enemy aircraft. Here, an aircraft spotter, clad in a "Sou'Wester" scans the skies with field glasses, on constant alert for hostile planes.

Photo is dated 1942.

Photo measures 6.25 x 8 inches.
