1945 Press Photo British Passengers aboard Royal Navy Ship left Philadelphia

The British Royal navy closed up shop in the United States today (October 16) when a Royal Navy Landing Ship, No. 3518, pulled up anchor at Philadelphia and left for Scotland, carrying six women, two children and about 30 enlisted men, the male passengers were assigned to various British Admiralty Offices throughout the country offices now in the process of being shut down. Here a portion of the group waves goodbye as the ship pulls out of the dock.
