1947 Press Photo National Air races competitors view American first Army Plane

Description
Four jet plane pilots, who will compete in the 1947 National Air Races at Cleveland, view one of the first airplanes bought by the U.S. Army. The plane used in 1909-10, is on exhibit in the Aviation Building of the Smithsonian Institute. Left to right are: Col. Be Preston Jr., Crow City, Florida, Major Clay Albright, Elreno Oklahoma. Lt. George LaRose, Laston Pa., and Lt. Joseph Howard, Longview Texas, all stationed at Andrews Field Md.
