New Training ship American Sailor, formerly the 6,685 gross ton Freighter Egermont, arrives from Baltimore to take on 300 apprentice seamen for a 6,000 mile first voyage to Hueneme California. She is tied up at the the United States Coast Guard's Pier 18, Staten Island. Photo shows general view of the S. S. American Sailor tied up at the Pier.
