United States Senator A. Evan Reames, Oregon's first Democratic Senator in 17 years, taking his oath of office from Notary Public Mrs. M. Edwards, assigned by Governor Charles Martin to administer the oath in his Medford Oregon, law office prior to his departure for Washington DC. Judge H. T. Norton (tall man in center) and Senator Reames' friends witness the ceremony. He was appointed by Governor Martin to succeed Republican Senator Frederick Steiwer who resigned.
