1956 Press Photo Jacques Soustelle submits his resignation to French Government

Algerian Governor -- General Jacques Soustelle had submitted his resignation to the French Government, informed sources said January 13, 1956. Sources said he sent his resignation from Algeria after the cool reception accorded both in Paris, France and in Algeria to his plan for integrating the territory with metropolitan France. It was up to the French Government either to accept or reject his resignation.
