1957 Press Photo Ramona Ridling shows invention that saves millions of dollars

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Ramona Ridling displays a five-cent spring clamp that means savings worth millions of dollars. Boxes, such as those in the truck behind her, closed with these clamps can be completely dis-assembled in less time that it takes to remove the lids from nailed boxes, box panels are undamaged. This makes it possible for manufacturers to recover and reuse box materials, thereby saving about half the cost of conventional packaging.

Photo is dated 1957.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
