Description
Families of American occupation troops settle into their temporary homes in Berlin. A typical family is Private First Class James R. Cumming, 26, of Seattle, Washington, and his wife, Katherine, and their son, Larry, 2. Cumming, a chemistry teacher in the American High School in Berlin, worked for six years as an engineer with Boeing Aircraft before he was drafted, shortly after the war's end. The Cummings plan to travel in Europe for a year after James receives his discharge next year. Shown are sailboating lessons on the Wannsee.
