In Albany, New York, Frank Leonard, statistician in the Bureau of Criminal Identification of the New York State Department of Correction, is shown operating a machine devised by William E. Cashin, Director of the Bureau, which classifies fingerprint records. The cards are then put into another machine and sorted at the rate of 400 per minute until the proper record falls out of the machine. Photo measures 9 x 7 inches. Photo is dated 02-04-1939.
