High Vatican sources said the Vatican is investigating the writings of a liberal Dutch Theologian for possible errors, but denied reports he would be tried. The Vatican sources contradicted other liberal Roman Catholic sources who said they had learned the Vatican's powerful and conservative Congregation of the Faith was planning to try Prof. E. C. Schillebeeckx (shown in the picture) for heresy.
