Description
The home of "Brother" Eugene S. Champagne, self-appointed "healer." has become the mecca of hundreds of cripples and invalids who seek cure of their ills, through his "miraculous powers." Clergymen and other ministers of the Gospel, warn against his shrine, claiming that it is contrary to the first commandment ... "Thou Shalt Have None Other Gods Before Me." In the yard of "Brother" Champagne's home is a deep rock walled well, on the top of which stands a statue of St. Francis Xavier. This he calls the "miracle well shrine" and it is the water of this well which he uses to work his supposed cures. Shown is a group of "pilgrims" who are worshiping at the "Brother" Champagne's shrine in hopes of cures. "Brother" Champagne can be seen in the background.

Photo measures 8.75 x 6.5 inches.

Photo is dated 01-18-1935.
