1935 Press Photo Author John Strachey Arrested by Immigration Officials Chicago

Evelyn John St. Loe Strachey, better known as John Strachey, British author, lecturer, and former member of Parliament, left Chicago after his arrest by immigration officials and went to Cleveland, Ohio, to speak, but was recalled to Chicago for a hearing in which he faces deportation on charges of having made false statements in his application for entry into the United States. He is shown talking to reporters as he awaited the hearing.
