George F. Mann of St. Paul, Minnesota, left, receives his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vice-President Frederick Woodward of the University of Chicago as the first student to complete all undergraduate work under the school's rules that permit able students to proceed faster than their fellows. He finished a course that normally takes four years in two and a half.
