1953 Press Photo Ancient Crown of St. Edward

Description
Photo shows the St. Edward's crown which the sovereign is crowned. Heavily jeweled circle and frame now contain the velvet cap of estate. Crown much the same as when made by Vyner, the king's goldsmith for the coronation of Charles II in 1661. Ancient crown of St. Edward was destroyed in 1649.

Photo is dated 1953.
