1952 Press Photo Fireman Helped 62-year-old Charles Babcook, Explosion Victim

Photo shows fireman helps Charles Babcook, 62, down ladder after he was found unconscious in a hallway of his rooming house. Passerby told firemen that they saw the flash of an explosion in the victim's room before flames began leaping from the windows. Burns covered more than 80 percent of his body.
