1954 Press Photo Jean Heikkila With A Short-Wave Set Gifted By Her Friends

Jean Hekkila of Cromwell, Minnesota, found a way to deliver her thoughts about the invariably fatal outcome of Muscular Dystrophy, with which she and 200,000 other in the U.S. are afflicted. Her friends had given her a short-wave set, and even though it takes all of her strength just to turn the dials, anyone can listen to her, day or night, about the disease and encouraging listeners to fight it.
